Ask the average conservative why he wants to see certain laws passed and officials elected.

What kind of answer would you get?

“Because I love my country.”

“Because the left wants to destroy our nation.”

“Because I want a better future for my kids.”

These aren’t bad reasons. But are they best reasons? What is the real, foundational reason why we want to see the end of things like abortion, illegal immigration and the redefinition of marriage?

We believe there is one reason that lies at the foundation of it all: Because God has said.

Consider the following from Greg Bahnsen:

“God is not the God merely of the churches. He is the living God over all creation. So, what standard for political morality should God’s people adopt today, if not God’s revealed law?”

The logic behind this is simple. God is the great, mighty, and awesome maker of all things. It is from His law that we know what is right and wrong. Therefore, all of creation ought to be submitted to God’s law—including public policy.

We have been discipled into believing that the political realm is somehow exempt from God’s Word—that separation of church and state really means separation of God and state. Where did that idea come from?

This kind of thinking has had destructive ramifications. As one theologian noted: “if there is no God over the state, then the state becomes god.”

Most tragic of all is that the average Christian in America has fallen prey to this rhetoric. It has created believers who become apathetic or allergic to the idea of “getting involved in politics.”

Politics is not a dirty word. It is simply the area of life where moral decisions are expressed in the form of laws.

And of course, King Jesus has something to say about moral decisions.

Once more from Bahnsen:

“Some would have us believe that God’s New Covenant revelation has no direction for political morality, for (it is thought) social reform in an unbelieving society is not a proper task for the Christian. This truncated view of Christianity, however, is what stands opposed to New Covenant revelation. Christ is now ‘King of kings’ and in the future, He will judge all magistrates for their rule.”

Red State Reform’s mission is quite simple. We believe Jesus Christ has all authority in heaven and on earth, His law is binding upon all of creation, including the civil magistrates, and that all nations must obey Him.

To put it even more simply: we believe that Christless conservatism has no place in the world that Christ has made.

Therefore, we seek to advance legislation that has the solid rock of God’s Word as its foundation.

“Because I want better future.”  “Because I want a better culture.”  “Because I want to beat the left.” ….. These reasons are not enough.

Let us say without flinching and without apologizing, “because God has said.”

Do you agree?

We hope you’ll join us.
